Brochure Designing: Five Key Elements to Consider
The main aim behind designing a brochure is to motivate an
action from the end users, i.e. your customers. For this to happen, they have
to pick it first and check it.
Thus, it is very essential to create an eye-catching
brochure that reflects your brand and provides a great experience to the
customers while they are viewing it.
Here are some of the key points that you need to consider
while designing your brochure-
1) Attention-grabbing cover
The cover page of the brochure is the first
thing that your customer will notice. Thus, to motivate them to pick your
brochure and go through it, it is essential that you work out an amazing
concept for your cover page. Minimalism is the key here. An ideal cover would
consist of three basic elements- an image that stands out, a phrase to catch
the customer’s attention and your company’s logo, that’s it! Don’t overdo it.
Also, the text on your cover should be
compelling enough for them to pause and check your brochure. One of the tactics
can be to start it with an interesting question that will evoke customer’s
interest and make them curious to find the answer to it (which can be answered
inside the brochure).
2) Select the right colours, font and font size
Font and colours are another way to set the
mood of your customers. Choose some bright colours and font that reflects your
brand’s personality and message. If you are looking to attract the younger
generation, vibrant colours would serve the purpose for you. Also, keep the font
style constant throughout the brochure. Use different font sizes strategically
throughout your brochure to highlight the information within the brochure.
3) Use images
Images add life to your brochure. Use
high-quality images that communicate your brand message without using text.
However, ensure that you don’t over-rely on images and use only 3-5 of them to
not confuse the user.
4) Use blank spaces appropriately
Blank spaces are as important as text or
images in your brochure. Use them in your brochure strategically as it does not
let your brochure look cluttered or over-designed.
5) Select the right fold
Z-fold and trifold are the two common types
of brochure folds. Use a Z-fold when a lot of information has been used whereas
a trifold is appropriate to show a large central image and minimum information.
